Best of SMS Livedating: Twitter Still Waiting To Bring Sexy Back

filed under: Web Sex Index, SMS Livedating by Melissa Gira

We’re still feeling out Twitter’s utility for reporting sex and pre-sex (and the post-game, too) live.

Based on these samples from the ramp-up to the weekend (and the comedown from Thursday’s hangovers), I wonder, is all the action going down among “updates only to friends right now”, or is the eros of Twitter elsewhere?

True, there’s something sweet in the juxtaposition (based on its current userbase and its current hivemind) of frantic calls for wordpress templates and reportbacks from emo Skype calls to long distance lovers. But does knowing what geeks eat make us want to ring them up for a date?

Or, maybe, can we only take the sexual pulse of Twitter from within the hot, pumping context of our own feeds?

Our Sexerati challenge to to you, then, ramping up to next week’s report: seduce us in 160 characters or less. You don’t have to be too obvious; it’s better if you aren’t. Like Liz Henry direct messaged me, flirting on Twitter all about ‘plausible deniability.’

I think Twitter has so much potential. I love the fact that it’s between an instant message and a blog post. Your not having a conversation but your not exactly posting your thoughts on an idea either. It’s a flash of your what your doing or how your feeling right now. Twitter asks the question “what are you doing?” and we answer.

So the real million dollar question is, when I twittered that to you, *was it flirting or not*…

Clintus - Twitter rocks for building sweet, immediate connections, but my favorite Twittering so far is among social networks I already had a foot in: it’s the videobloggers who got me to fiend over Twitter — and the local San Francisco sexy geek squad.

Liz - giving new meaning to twitterpated, right? Mmm.

Oh, and that people are flirting now in the comments at Sexerati (see the latest Music To Do It To, also)? HOTT.

(And my phone vibrating alerts from under my pillow this AM? Not sure yet if that was voyeur-hott or just plain distracting.)
