Erotic Elite: Rachel Kramer Bussel’s She’s on Top
filed under: Erotic Elite by Lux Nightmare
I’ve never identified as a top.
Far from it, in fact.
I’ve never identified as a top, and I’ve never really been into reading about female domination. It wasn’t really a part of my repertoire, or even on my radar.
But I found myself yearning to expand my experience, to learn a little more about the other side of the coin, so to speak: so it was, perhaps, good fortune that I found myself with a copy of She’s on TopErotic Stories of Female Dominance and Male Submission, Rachel Kramer Bussel’s latest anthology of thigh-clenchingly hot erotica.
Stories of domination and submission usually fall into a pretty narrow spectrum, laden with the traditional accoutrements of BDSM (whips, chains, leather, etc.). While there’s no shortage of BDSM imagery, She’s on Top manages to move beyond stereotype, examining the eroticism of female domination from a wide range of experiences — bringing the reader into a Victorian boudoir to witness some distinctly unvictorian action (”Victoria’s Hand”), a Wall Street office that has the secretary taking charge (”Suit and Tie”), and a gender-bending fantasy where roles are reversed in more ways than one (”Why Can’t I Be You?”).
My favorite story, however, would have to be “Room 2201,” the story of a dominatrix who brings her submissive to his knees… and into the service of her hot, hung lover. The thought of a dominatrix watching her submissive get fucked up the ass by another man was, well, pretty damn hot. For me, female domination is fun to play with, but male domination is will always win my heart in the end.
Overall, She’s on Top is an excellent collection of stories of female domination — a good addition to the collection of any the female domination afficianado and a nice introduction for the new and curious. Kudos to Rachel Kramer Bussel for putting it together. I’m definitely looking forward to her next project.
Next stop on the kinky book tour: Tara Tainton; the full schedule continues on into May.
