London station Rinse FM has been awarded an FM license after broadcasting online for 16 years. Since is inception in 1994, Rinse has become synonymous with East London’s dubstep / grime scene pioneering the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Kode 9 and Skream.

With their newly-acquired license, Rinse will cement their reputation for supporting London’s youth-orientated music culture and showcasing raw talent across the urban spectrum. “Rinse FM is uniquely placed at the hub of the Capitalʼs thriving British underground music community, demonstrating throughout 16 years of broadcasting that we provide a vital, unique and exceptionally successful, grass-roots gateway into broadcast radio and the wider music industry.”

The license was issued following an in-house petition encouraging fans to show support for the station and take it to a legal platform. Regular DJs alongside station head Geeneus include Roska, Alex Nut & Plastician.

Dizzee Rascal explained, “Rinse FM was inspirational and influential to my journey. Listening to my peers on the radio when I was growing up helped give me a drive, focus and subsequently an outlet for my music when otherwise there would have been none.”
