The xx’ keyboard player Jamie Smith announced his intention to release Far Nearer during an interview for Xfm’s X-Posure.

The release is anticipated to appear alongside the likes of Roska, Kavsrave, Rustie & Untold on Glaswegian label Numbers towards the end of 2010.

Smith stated the solo effort was crafted during a short break from touring, when he was “eager” to make some new music.

There has been no indication from Numbers to support Smith’s statements.

The xx recently scooped the coveted Barclaycard Mercury Prize for their debut album xx, released on XL subsidiary Young Turks.
