Ms. Jameson Goes to… Scottsdale?

December 14th, 2005 by Melissa Gira

Late last week, the Arizona TV news types were all a-flutter at the arrival of Jenna Jameson to a town zoning meeting.  (Wouldn’t local politics be so much more compelling everywhere if…?  Never mind.)

Jenna from Rolling Stone

Ms. Jameson is launching a referendum signature drive with the goal of overturning a new law requiring all Scottsdale strippers to maintain four feet of distance from their patrons while performing.  (Ostensibly this regulation doesn’t apply to when a dancer needs to go to a restaurant, gas station, store, or even local zoning board hearing at which her customers may also be present.)  Additionally, Jenna is seeking a lawsuit alleging discrimination on the grounds that these new regulations were only adopted once the City Council heard that she’d acquired a share of of a club in south Scottsdale (which is also now her hometown).

With Jenna aspiring to ascend the throne as Queen of All Porn Media, maybe they should be scared.  There’s no guarantee that a former sex industry performer will be any better a boss than her predecessors, but as a businesswoman with a distinctly feel-good political cause, she’s surely got them beat. I wonder how many of those government guys, as much as they doth protest too much, surely assist in funding the Jameson empire all the same.
