The Bay Area does have a long and proud tradition of cults, from Sam Brannan and the early Mormons to Jim Jones and the People's Temple. I've certainly been seeing Scientologists around town a lot more since moving to North Beach. But honestly, some of these tech companies seem pretty cultish -- Google, for one, but even crazier are some of the things I've heard about at Second Life (which just sounds like a cult to begin with).

BTW, nice to finally meet!
